Eight Billion Dollar Band-Aid

Eight billion dollars.

That's what Trump promised farmers Monday night at a rally in Kansas. A shiny new "Harvest Fuel Relief" program to help cover their diesel costs.

Diesel HE jacked up.

Let's do the math, since nobody at that rally wanted to. A year ago diesel was $3.62 a gallon. Now it's $6.32. It hit a record $6.53 in September. Why? Mostly his war with Iran. Not Zelenskyy. Not Biden. Not the farmers. Him.

So he lights your fuel bill on fire, then hands you a coupon for part of it. And we're supposed to clap.

And where did he announce it? A rally for Senator Roger Marshall, who's somehow in a tight race in KANSAS. Trump gave Marshall the credit as "the leader who fought for that to happen." Two weeks before the election. Total coincidence, I'm sure.

Then he said the quiet part out loud: "When Republicans win, we will pass even more funding for our farmers."

When Republicans WIN. So the help comes with a voting requirement now? That's not farm policy, sweetheart. That's a ransom note.

Here's the part that really gets me. Farmers growing the big crops can't even apply until January 2027. Payment rates come out "in November." The election is November 3rd.

Harvest is happening RIGHT NOW. Not in January. Your diesel bill is due now. The combine doesn't run on a promise.

And this isn't the first bailout. There was $12 billion last round for the mess his trade war made. USDA's own forecast says fuel and oil costs on farms are jumping almost 30 percent this year, and net farm income is going DOWN.

One economist summed it up better than I can: "He imposes policies that harm farmers, then spends taxpayer money to offset the damage his policies create."

That's the whole business model. Break it. Bill you for it. Demand a thank you card.

Oh, and Congress doesn't even get a vote. It comes out of a USDA fund he can just tap. Your money, his campaign stop.

Now, to the guys already typing "well at least he's doing SOMETHING." Yeah, he's doing something. He's paying you with your own tax dollars to forget who caused the problem. Congratulations on your refund, I guess. Real proud of you.

Farmers, I'm genuinely asking. Would you rather have a check in January, or diesel back under four bucks?

Because only one of those wins him an election.
